How to Reframe Change: From Resistance to Wonder

Change often feels heavy. It asks us to learn, adapt, and sometimes let go of what’s familiar. No wonder we resist it. But what if change could feel lighter—even inspiring? The answer might be right under our feet.

Change often feels heavy. It asks us to learn, adapt, and sometimes let go of what’s familiar. No wonder we resist it. But what if change could feel lighter—even inspiring?

The answer might be right under our feet.

On a walk through the woods, I stopped at a patch of moss. I’d passed it countless times, usually without noticing. But this time, I paused. Moss has survived for thousands of years, through extinctions and upheavals. What looks like “just moss” is actually a master of resilience. The same with dandelions—we label them weeds, yet they’re nutrient powerhouses, offering food and medicine.

This is the shift: when we see differently, we live differently. Neuroscience backs this up. Our brain’s reticular activating system (RAS) filters what we notice. If we prime it with awe, possibility, or gratitude, it searches for more evidence of those states.

So change doesn’t just happen “out there.” It begins in how we see.

Try this: On your next walk, choose three ordinary things—a leaf, a crack in the sidewalk, a cloud. Look closer. Ask: What wonder is here? What’s this teaching me about presence or even thriving?

Small lens shifts change how we experience the world—and how we meet change itself.

The more you shift your lens, the more you unlock awe, curiosity, and possibility. A fresh view can change everything. You’re not lost. You’re a Wayfinder.
