The Sanctuary Porch

Pull up a chair. Our trail starts here.
I am Liz. And I know what it feels like when the old map burns.

You don’t need to be fixed, and you don’t need the old playbook. If you are navigating an unexpected life transition or wondering who you are after severe burnout, you don't have to walk the trail alone. Let's drop the performance and find your true North together.

I used to be defined by a success script.

For most of my professional life, I ticked the boxes of achievements. I wrote and published books, ran marathons, rescued behaviorally challenged dogs, and was an entrepreneur and independent contractor with gusto. I thought that if I just kept applying gas, my future would be bright. But I realized I needed a tempo shift. I was spending significant time and resources “recovering” from my life. Burnout, anyone?

I moved to a remote area in nature, trading some securities for a greater inner aliveness and peace. That is where the terrain got un-real.

Hundred-year hurricanes hit. Historic winter freezes challenged plants and wildlife. The exceptional drought set in. Wildfires came. My environment reminded me again and again that unpredictableness is the norm. My body echoed that lesson. My knee said "NO MORE,” burning my runner identity (and joy) to the ground. In the middle of the thick wildfire smoke choking out the moon and sky, my nervous system hit a wall. I had to recalibrate my expectations of how life “should” look, no matter if we do the “right” things, and start practicing the unscripted art of LIZ-ing… the art of being true to you. YOU-ing.

There was no checklist for this path forward. I found my way by dropping the desire for things to be different, focusing intensely on this present moment and what my best response needed to be, and emulating the sure-footed wisdom of a neighbor donkey named Gus and a senior rescue horse named Snickers—both living compromised singular lives as herd animals without their herds.

I am not an “expert" peddling a magic pill. I am a Wayfinder who has walked the fire, tested the foundation in the dark, and learned how to place each hoof with sovereignty to my truth. I’m here to help you do the same.
